Each of the twelve zodiacal signs is allocated to one of the four elements. Each element functions as a way of distinguishing the archetypal energy and foundational personality structures unique to astrological signs. Generally self sufficient and naturally born adventurers, they are usually blessed with a robust energy and a keen appreciation of life. Courageous, idealistic and intelligent, Fire Signs make for inspirational and brave leaders in their chosen fields and generally excel in any arena where imagination and creative thought is needed. Fire Signs usually need to be in a position of authority, whether that is within a management structure or using their entrepreneurial skills to succeed in their own endeavour. Water Signs: Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.
Decidedly influenced by the emotional body, Water Signs are usually empathic and sensitive, possessing a well-developed ‘psychic antennae’. Highly intuitive, naturally nurturing, and tending towards moodiness, they are often easily displaced from their centre and because of this, Water Signs need short periods of solitude; essential time out needed to soothe their souls and recharge their social battery and armour. Generally quite private souls, they are very loyal and family oriented. Water Signs often make for great managers, bosses, and excel in any profession with a focus on service to society at large; think Nursing, Psychology, Police, Therapists etc.
Earth Signs: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn.
These signs are loyal, reliable and possess great practical intelligence. Surprisingly conservative they are nonetheless sensual, deriving enormous pleasure and spiritual sustenance through their keenly developed senses of sight, sound, taste, smell and touch. Patient, clever and creative Earth signs are generally good listeners, bosses, managers, project supervisors, artists and healers. Commonly it could be said that the most compatible zodiac signs are most likely to be those that share the same element. Strictly speaking if your Sun Sign is Capricorn then a relationship with another of the Earth Signs should at least be blessed with a natural and easy understanding of each other’s basic characteristics. However if this is not the case it could be down to any of the reasons already mentioned as well as incompatible Venus or Moon positions on the Natal charts.
Just a word to the wise; it would be naive to assume that a person’s Star sign and the element it falls within is enough to guarantee a successful relationship/partnership. It is impossible to ignore the the individual complexities and influences of the rest of their chart, let alone the ethnic, religious and cultural influences that shape and mould our characters, outlooks and moral structure.
Understanding a persons’ star sign characteristics and element in a general sense, will at least offer an idea of which signs they are most likely to connect with harmoniously, whether that relationship is professional, friendship, romantic or a family based one.

The science of Astrology resonated with Roman and Arab scholar alike, spreading until and it was ultimately used in one form or another by most cultures on the earth.
Charting a horoscope is necessarily an astronomical process; the judgement or delineation of the horoscope is the astrological process. Put simply; astronomy may be termed an objective science and astrology a subjective science.
What is Astrology?
Astrology is the science that explores the action of celestial bodies upon sentient and non-sentient beings and their response to those very same influences. It examines the relationship between the planets and their observable effects on humanity on a global scale; as well on the individuals’ consciousness and spiritual growth; astrology offers a well-founded vernacular through which past, present and future probabilities may be carefully interpreted.
What is a Horoscope?
Most often referred to as a Natal Chart, it is essentially a map of the heavens illustrating the potentials and primary characteristics of an individual born at a specific time and place on our planet. An accurate time of birth is essential in order to identify the ‘Rising Sign’ or ‘Ascendant’ on the individual’s Natal Chart, without which an accurate interpretation cannot be given.
What is the ‘Ascendant’ on a birth chart and why does it comprise such importance to the practising Astrologer?
The planet rising (ascending) on the Eastern Horizon at the exact moment of your birth is the designated Ascendant on your Natal Chart. Mundane or Western Astrologers understand that the Ascendant provides the lens through which you perceive the world; and indeed it is the initial ‘personality’ that the public meets when first encountering you; probably best described as your ‘social self’.
These days no one needs a consultation with an Astrologer to identify your Birth or Sun Sign. Moreover, as we are all bound to have a basic understanding of the characteristics of the twelve signs of the Zodiac there is no need to list the same.
