This blog is about how to use energy work for the mind, body and soul
Most of us are familiar with the concept of energy work and comfortable with incorporating the assistance of practitioners from both Orthodox and Alternative modalities when managing our health. But what can it really achieve and what are your options?
Beneath the banner of ‘Alternative Medicine’ is comprised a rich variety of traditional healing methods. Many of the traditional medicines are ancient in origin and based on thousands of years of working knowledge and practical application. Think of Acupuncture, Acupressure, Chinese Herbal Remedies, Ayurvedic Medicine, Psychic, Energy and Distance Healing to name but a few.
There are so many Energy Healing modalities and methodologies that it is impossible to cover them all. So we will just take a quick look at a few primary modalities and the underlying principles of Energy Work
So what exactly is it? And how do energy workers use it to heal?
Working with the human energy field is based on the understanding that all is energy, we are energy manifest as human, and so to; all matter contained in the Universe is energy expressed in form.
The energy we are referring to is known by many names, including Subtle Energy, Vital Energy, the Energy field, the Aura, Chi, Pran, Ki and Life Force Energy.
Each individual expression or manifestation of energy has its’ own unique energetic signature, identifiable to those who specialize in the field of energy work. To put it simply, the individual energy field is created by you and is both electrochemical (the physical) and energetic: created by emotions, actions, thoughts, belief systems and experiences. Connecting the energetic or subtle bodies are numerous pathways along which the electromagnetic energies flow.
The balance and flow of this is energy is vitally important to the maintenance of our physical and energetic wellbeing on all levels’.
Healing modalities such as Distance Healing, Reiki, Intuitive and Spiritual Healing use the principle of working with energy for the intention of clearing and balancing the pathways connecting the many energetic layers, and using the universal energy source to facilitate healing, strength and balance.
A holistic approach to health is the foundation of energy work and by definition, the initial marker of ill health is first identified as a disturbance, blockage or imbalance occurring in the subtle bodies or energy field. Ideally, in order to function at an optimal level, our bodies are designed to operate in a state of balance and harmonious function.
Given the realities of life and living, problems arise when we are faced with stress, ill health, spiritual, emotional or physical trauma and we find ourselves seeking the sort healing that falls outside of the arena of Orthodox medicine. The ultimate objective of the energy worker is to restore the healthy balance of the energy field and its associated pathways.
Some of the more widely recognized modalities of Energy Healing and Work include:
Acupressure: Use of finger and hand pressure over specific points on the body to relieve pain and discomfort and to influence the function of internal organs and body systems. Various approaches are used to release tension and restore the natural flow of energy in the body.
Acupuncture: Use of fine-gauged needles inserted into specific points on the body to stimulate or disperse the flow of energy. This ancient Oriental technique is used to alleviate pain or increase immunity by balancing energy flow.
Cranial Osteopathy: Gentle and almost imperceptible manipulation of the skull to re-establish its natural configuration and movement. Such correction can have a positive influence on disorders manifested throughout the body.
Cranio-sacral Therapy: Diagnosis and treatment of imbalances in the cranio-sacral system. Subtle adjustments are made to the system through light touch and gentle manipulations.
Massage: The use of strokes and pressure on the body to dispel tension, increase circulation and relieve muscular pain. Massage can provide comfort and increased body awareness, and can be an excellent method of releasing emotional as well as bodily tension.
Qi Gong: An internal Chinese meditative practice that uses breathing techniques, gentle movement, and meditation to cleanse, strengthen, and circulate the life energy.
Shiatsu: An energy-based system of bodywork using a firm sequence of rhythmic pressure held on specific points, designed to awaken acupressure meridians.
Reiki: Is a Japanese technique commonly called palm healing or hands-on-healing. This technique allows practitioners to harness the universal energy using the hands as the focal point through which healing and rebalancing of the energetic bodies occurs.
Psychic healing: Accessing metaphysical energies drawn from the Source, Psychic and Spiritual healing is aimed at restoring the natural energetic balance of the body. An ancient practice, used by many different schools of thought though out human history and found in all cultures, the basis of Psychic healing is that of channelling a high vibrational restorative energy in order to bring about healing and resolution.
It may also serve to strengthen your auric field, release blockages and clear your subtle bodies, thereby supporting your ability to function healthily and with clarity. Psychic and Spiritual Healing actively reinforces the healing of the mind, body and soul.
