This blog is about Healing the Mind, Body and Spirit with music
What is this extraordinary energy inherently manifest in every race and culture since time immemorial? What exactly is the magic found in the notes and harmonies of music that enchants, energizes and heals us?
In any given moment, music can transport you to a future only imagined; or place you directly in the emotion and circumstances of a past moment, person or event. Music is a cellular experience and as such, accesses’ our cellular memory.
Music and certain sounds, may define your personal history as clearly as the family photograph album. Music has been used as a bridge between the physical and spirit worlds for millennia.
It awakens and renews within us the connection to spirit — the source of prayer, compassion, inspiration and love. Is soothes our minds and souls, and is known to stimulate new neural pathways in the human brain, thus making us smarter.
Music is holy, an expression so magnificent that we are momentarily swept from our earth based reality and perceptions, into the enormity and endless beauty of the universe.
Music gives voice to our most poignant memories, it can heal the ‘blues’, and allow the unfettered child within to dance with joyous abandon; it bonds friends, generations and entire nations. It heals and aids in the growth of plant life and animals.
It is used to ease chronic pain, in the rehabilitation of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder; calms anxiety, and assists Autistic children to map sounds to action and improve social interaction.
Music has power — especially for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. And it can spark compelling outcomes even in the very late stages of the disease.
Music in all its forms and expressions can captivate, rally, resurrect and transform. And yet, it comprises so much more than we are consciously aware of. The Earth herself is the original songstress, songwriter, orchestra and conductor.
“Harmony sinks deep into the recesses of the soul and takes its strongest hold there, bringing grace also to the body and mind as well. Music is a moral law. It gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, and life to everything. It is the essence of order.” — Plato (429–347)
The soughing of wind through trees, the rich and varied music of birdcall, the bass note of surf meeting sand as waves roll in, the sounds of thunder and the heartbeat of the newborn. From our first breath to the moment we ‘walk on,’ we are surrounded by sound and vibration. Metaphysical Astrologers’ maintain that a musical note rung throughout the Universe, by an Angelic and recorded in the Akashic Records heralds the first breath taken, by any living creature. It is the sound and vibration of creation itself, the means by which the Angels communicate and atoms dance. The use of the human voice in healing with ‘Harmonic Sound’ is ancient in origin and used with efficacy to this present day. It was used in Greek, Chinese, Egyptian and Indian cultures, and is relevant to the spiritual heart of most indigenous cultures today.
Our spirituality is an essential part of who we are, and it forms the framework of our world. All evidence points to a profound connection between music and spirituality. Music continues to inspire spiritual expression, providing connection between music-maker and music-lover. A song may define the spirit of an entire community, a nation, even as one day a global song of peace and healing may serve to unify and lift the vibration of our entire planet.
Wishing you a multitude of blessings, light, love and healing,
